ARTIST STATEMENT:
Anticipation about the return to Asia was high. After an absence of 36 years, it was reassuring to discover the complex beauty remained. Yet there also was amazement, as often is true under such circumstances, at the immense changes that had occurred. It was like meeting an old friend for the first time. There was much to explore.
Travel in Asia, for me, is a celebration of both the internal and external journeys we take in life. Such experience reaches beyond the simple act of skipping stones on a pond. It requires moments of stillness, when saturated senses emboss themselves on memory. This magic transforms the intrepid traveler who discovers the secret corners of Asia and lingers a while.
